With almost twenty years of experience in the media industry, Janet Jensen is an award-winning documentary photographer based in Tacoma Washington. As a staff photographer for the News Tribune, for the past seventeen years, she has specialized in covering social issues through the photographic essay.
Although primarily dedicated to telling human stories in her own community, her work has sent her to Cambodia, the Philippines, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Ms. Jensen's images have been published in the New York Times, Time
Magazine, the Washington Post, Business Week, MSNBC, People Magazine, and the Times of London. Her photography is regularly distributed nationally and internationally by the Associated Press and Getty Images.
She has received honors from the Pictures of Years International, National Press Photographers Association, Society of Professional Journalists, Associated Press, and Best of the West photo contests.
